MARKETING & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Children in Hospital Ireland (CIH) is a registered charity and a
company limited by guarantee. The organisation has its Head Office in

country. Children in Hospital Ireland delivers a national
volunteer-run hospital play and recreation service; advocates to
promote the highest standards in the delivery of healthcare for
children; provides information and help for parents of hospitalised
children; and works collaboratively with support groups for children
who are ill or have long-term medical conditions.
REPORTING TO The Chief Executive Officer.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH Staff team; the Board and its committees;
volunteers & team leaders; community associations; service providers;
funding agencies, sponsors and other key stakeholders.
PURPOSE
To develop and manage the marketing and fundraising activities
programme and strategy in line with the organisation?s objectives
and functions, to progress, support and promote the work of the
organisation.
JOB SUMMARY AND CONTEXT
Children in Hospital Ireland is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated,
self-starter to manage the marketing and development functions within
the organisation, with responsibility for marketing & communications
planning and content development, daily marketing and PR operations,
fundraising and sponsorship development. Reporting to the CEO, the
successful candidate will be an experienced marketing and fundraising
professional with a background and/or understanding of the non-profit,
and or charity sector. He/she should have demonstrable experience
working with a range of stakeholders including charities, volunteers,
non-profit organisations, public bodies, and the public.
A proven track record with social media and web management is highly
desirable in addition to publications, graphic design and PR in
general. The successful candidate will be a motivated and dynamic
person able to ?hit the ground running?, who can think and operate
strategically as well as able to develop and maintain high marketing
and fundraising standards for the organisation. The candidate should
be highly organised and have the ability to manage multiple
priorities. This is a job for a team player, someone who can think
outside the box, and thrives in a challenging work environment, who is
personable, friendly, with excellent communication skills and a can-do
attitude.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. DEVELOPMENT / FUNDRAISING
* Improve existing fundraising and awareness / promotional campaigns,
develop new revenue avenues, and coordinate, plan, manage current
campaigns to include fundraising events and programmes.
* Identify and pursue new sources of sustainable funding to support
CIH?s programmes and operations.
* Identify partnerships and opportunities with current and potential
contributors including foundations, non-profits, government bodies,
corporations, members, stakeholders etc., generating income and
developing sustainable sponsorship relationships.
2. MARKETING / COMMUNICATIONS /PR
* Work closely with the CEO and other staff members to formulate a
marketing strategy and implement the organisation?s fundraising and
communications plans.
* Raise awareness of CIH?s activities, services and achievements
among the relevant public, the media, social media platforms etc.
* Design and implement the organisation?s internal and external
communications plan including; the promotion of CIH through print and
broadcast media; website content development and management;
generating and placing articles, features, and press releases through
printed and broadcasting media, photoshoots/calls, advertising and
marketing tools, newsletters and bulletins.
* Run the Marketing and Development budget efficiently.
* Be responsible for the development, design, and sourcing of
marketing and display materials to promote CIH?s work at events and
to all relevant audiences. Deal with print and publishing outlets.
* Maximise business opportunities and income through sponsorship and
PR activities.
* Liaise with local/regional businesses in developing marketing
partnerships.
* Continue the development of an efficient media database to support
communications.
* Direct the ongoing distribution of print publicity material.
* Keep an archive of press cuttings, adverts clippings, and press
photos.
* Prepare media releases and listings, ensuring dissemination to the
appropriate media within deadlines for volunteer recruitment drives.
* Take the lead in organising events where appropriate.
* Act in accordance with CIH?s internal administrative processes
and work with the CIH team.
* Participate in staff meetings, and reporting meetings with the
CEO.
3. GENERAL
* Comply with in-house policies, systems and procedures at all times.
* Work as part of the CIH team in contributing toward meeting the
organisation?s objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
_Professional requirements_
* Degree in Marketing/Digital Marketing or similar qualification
* Computer literacy essential (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
and database management (Salesforce) desirable
* Working experience of digital tools e.g., Google Analytics,
WordPress, Canva and Mailchimp and or equivalent
* Ability to work on own initiative, manage time effectively and
meet deadlines
* Excellent communication skills. Comfortable presenting reports and
providing recommendations with confidence to senior-level management &
board
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
and meet deadlines
* Can-do attitude; creative, enthusiastic, self-motivated
* Team-working skills ? the ability to build relationships
internally and externally
* Strong attention to detail is a must for this role
* Experience of volunteering or working with volunteers and/or
non-profit organisations
